Wellbeing
The interior design development of the new 70,000m2 ‘Our Hospital’ project in the Channel Islands will reflect a natural and sustainable palette, easy to navigate spaces and human-scale design solutions, fit for a healthcare environment of this size & significance.
Hermantes Studio are working closely with a great consultant team – Llewelyn Davies as Lead Architects; LDA Design on an extensive landscaping & public realm programme; Arups on transport, services & sustainability; T Projects Arts Consultants; and ROK FCC - delivery partner appointed by the Government of Jersey to design and construct this £550+m development. The development represents one of the largest public projects ever undertaken in Jersey, the Channel Islands.
Widespread and ongoing engagement with islanders, politicians, community groups and clinical teams has been undertaken and RIBA Stage 3+ is well underway on ‘Our Hospital’ Campus.
Healthcare buildings are the places where many of us will experience life’s most profound events and are also extremely complex facilities which need to operate efficiently, be easily navigated and provide flexible, future-proofed and sustainable care environments.
The designs for Our Hospital will provide aspirational, patient-focused spaces, providing highest-quality therapeutic environments with the goals of promoting wellness, improving patient healing & outcomes and creating a healthier community for all.
Our Hospital should also embody the local pride of hosting a new world-class healthcare facility on island.
Wellbeing in all workplace environments should be high on everyone’s agenda and the design for Our Hospital will ensure that it also provides an inspiring and supportive workplace for all staff, with high quality staff spaces and working environments to attract and retain the best talent.
A site wide strategy for the interior design, materiality and wayfinding, will provide a cohesive and unifying identity for Our Hospital.
